Sound & Vision has a rather interesting article up about the ten films that it most wants to see released on Blu-ray, and while we concur with the most of ‘em, we’re interested to see what you readers think as well. Before delving into your fanboy-ish desires, however, it’s important to note that past popularity isn’t necessarily a sign that a particular motion picture will be re-released on BD. As we’ve learned before, there are quite a few variables that studios take into consideration outside of just public perception. We’re tempted to blurt out all ten right here for discussion, but we know how disgruntled some of you folks get when spoilers are sprung on you.

We really don’t have much to go on at this point beyond the pics, but this is apparently ASUS’ new S121. It looks uncannily like the sleek n’ slim 10.2-inch Eee Computer S101, but this model’s supposedly going to be 12.1-inches. There aren’t any other details regarding specs, pricing or availability yet, but we’ll let you know when we do, because we love sharing our discoveries. We really, really do. Check out some more photographic evidence after the break.

Homebrew developer ZodTTD has finally released version 2.0.0 of his long-awaited Sega Genesis and Sega CD emulator, genesis4iphone. This version works with iPhones and iPod Touches running on firmware 2.x.x.
This release comes with the same skin as ZodTTD’s earlier release, mame4iphone, but the good news here’s that you can actually change the skin yourself by editing the controller_hs1.png/.txt files in the Application directory of the app. Here’s a list of what else is new in v2.0.0:
- A port of Notaz’s continued support of PicoDrive.
- New interface/GUI similar to mame4iphone.
- Sound has been heavily improved! To enable sound, goto Now Playing and turn up the volume slider before entering a game.
- Save say support is now working.
- Supports zipped ROMs, and they happen to load much faster than unzipped ROMs…still!
- Sega CD support is implemented though currently untested by me.
genesis4iphone can be downloaded for free at ZodTTD’s public repository on Cydia.

2008 was, to say the least, a banner year for Windows Mobile hardware. Windows Mobile software… well, that’s another story; we’re still patiently waiting for the same thorough overhaul we’d hoped for years ago, but in the meantime, manufacturers have done an completely stellar job of taking the platform to its limits and packaging it in ways that could make any smartphone envious. For this first time, VGA screens (and beyond) have come to market en masse, and — unlike the 8525s, Tilts, Moguls, and XV6800s of yesteryear, the latest batch of QWERTY sliders look like they’ve actually got a lick of intelligent industrial design in their DNA.
So these puppies are similar, yes, but they’re not the same — so let’s take a swift look at what separates the Sprint Touch Pro, from the Verizon Touch Pro, from the AT&T Fuze, from the Sony Ericsson X1 (whew!).

Royal Enfield has quite a history of producing motorcycles. In fact, pretty much the same motorcycle since 1955 or so, making basic changes along the way along with just a few concessions to modern roadways and rider expectations such as an electric starter and a new five speed gearbox within the last few years. All of that’s set to change very soon, though, as the old Bullet with its cast iron cylinder and separate engine and gearbox castings has ceased production. The good news to fans of the classic machine is that a replacement bike has been shown at the Intermot show that just took place in Cologne, Germany.
Replacing the old-tech (some would state tried and true, of course) drivetrain is a new engine and transmission that’s now constructed as a single unit. Fuel injection takes the place of the traditional carburetor and a catalyst resides in the exhaust. The new engine is a bit more powerful at 27.5-horsepower, but the real reason that the change was made was to meet current and expected new emissions regulations around the world. You can also expect the new bike to retain the old Bullet’s exceptional fuel economy. The new bike is expected to make its formal debut in the U.S. sometime next year.

Australia’s Channel Ten has been known to snag some pretty enticing sporting events in the past, but all that’ll pale in comparison to a new channel launching next year. Yes, Aussies — in mere months, you’ll have the pleasure of enjoying a free-to-air 24-hour sports channel in glorious high-definition. For those not paying attention, you should also know that Ten has thrown down winning bids to show US NBA basketball, US Major League Baseball and the US Open golf tournament (among other events). There’s no set time frame for launch outside of sometime in ‘09, but worst case scenario, you’ve got just over 13 months to wait.

Psion, Psion. We hadn’t really heard from the British portable maker since the halcyon days of the Series5, but it’s back and making waves with a series of nastygrams asserting its trademark of the word “netbook.” Psion’s legal team followed up with jkOnTheRun, and according to them, it’s only going after those sites and companies “making a direct, financial profit from use of the ‘Netbook’ trademark.” (As opposed to profit in kind, we suppose — did you know our advertisers pay us in toaster waffles and aviator sunglasses? True story.) Psion states it’s mostly focused on retailers and manufacturers using the term netbook to sell machines, not “straight blogs” and other sites. Of course, that means next to nothing, since Psion states it’ll still go after those sites that have sponsored ads or for-profit links containing the word “netbook” — including automatically-placed ads and links like AdSense and Amazon affiliate ads that site owners typically have no control over. +10 weasel, dudes. Anyway, considering the widespread adoption of “netbook” in the past year with nary a peep from Psion, we’d say the term is pretty well generic and no longer a valid trademark at this point — we’ll see how it goes when it drags the first heavy-hitter using the term (like Intel) into court.
Disclaimer: Nilay’s a lawyer and secret Asian netbook ODM, but he’s not your lawyer and this isn’t legal advice or analysis.

Eaton, which is better known for its involvement in supercharging muscle automobiles, has a thing for saving fuel, too. According to a writeup on the outfit’s website, it’s working up a series hybrid hydraulic system to replace the conventional driveline. The SHH system will wed a high-efficiency diesel engine and a custom hydraulic propulsion system, and by operating at its “sweet spot,” it stands to reason that lots of gasoline will be saved as it runs. Better still, the setup involves regenerative breaking in order to recover and reuse energy that’s typically wasted, and the engine can safely be shut off when not needed in order to save additional fuel when waiting at a stoplight. So, where is this stuff headed first? UPS trucks, naturally.

Backing up your iPhone before you install new apps or upgrade is always a good idea. AptBackup makes this process a lot easier.
While it doesn’t actually make backups of all your Cydia-installed apps, AptBackup does make a list of everything you installed from Cydia and reinstalls them all when you restore. To use it, just run AptBackup’s restore function after making and using a backup of your iPhone in iTunes.
The 43 KB download of AptBackup is available on the BigBoss source. AptBackup works with firmware 2.1.

It appears that Ginetta Vehicles, a storied British company that’s been building racing and road cars since 1958, may be heating up the electric sports automobile market with a gas-free version of their latest automotive masterpiece, the G50. Information about the car is scant. Their website says only that it is all-electric, can reach 120 mph and will have a range up to 250 miles. No acceleration times are given but it will hopefully be at least as quick as it’s Ford-powered sister (which was just given the top spot in Autosport Magazine’s “Top 10 Automobiles of the year”) which is said to do 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds.
In case you are skeptically thinking, “Perhaps they’re just fobbing off a pretty picture and saying it’s electric,” please consider that, not only is there confirmation of the G50 EV driving on public roads by the company that integrated the electric drivetrain, RaceTech Harnessing, but it has also been photographed hood up with its controller box exposed. We’ve put in a request for more info and we’ll let you know what we learn about this low carbon Lightning GT competitor as soon as it becomes available.
